Tina graduated Cum Laude with her BA honours degree in Drama and Performance Studies from the former University of Natal (Durban). In her career so far, she has worn many hats, including Company Manager (Siwela Sonke Dance Theatre), Theatre Manager (The Courtyard Theatre) and Production Manager (The Playhouse Company); but it is her work as a Lighting Designer and Production Manager of which she is most proud.
Tina's career highlights so far include ‘Shrek’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Venus in Fur’, ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Cabaret’, ‘Wit’, ‘Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’. Other credits include Think Theatre’s ‘Tree Boy’ and ‘Abnormal Loads’ by Neil Coppen, and ‘Little Foot’ for the Market Theatre. She received the 2008 Durban Theatre award for Outstanding Lighting Design for ‘The Wizard of Oz’; in 2009 for ‘Wit’, 2011 for ‘Cabaret’, 2012 for ‘Abnormal Loads’, 2013 for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and 2014 for ‘Sweeney Todd’. She was also the recipient of the prestigious Naledi Award in 2012 for “Abnormal Loads”.
Tina has worked at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre as a student and a professional freelancer over many years, and feels she has finally "come home" to a permanent job at the welcoming venue. In her spare time, she wards off invading monkeys from her new home, is attempting to grow a vegetable garden, and has the biggest teddy bear collection known to mankind. Tina's cat is particluarly thrilled to have her owner-slave home on a more regular basis, but not so thrilled with the addition of a dog to the household...
