24 May - 16 June 2013 Black Comedy
KickstArt in association with Pieter Toerien presents the South African premier of the West End hit, The Ladykillers - a classic black comedy; a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing…
From the writer of Father Ted, Graham Linehan, comes a hilarious and thrilling new adaptation of the celebrated Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, directed by Steven Stead. Starring Charon Williams-Ros (Cabaret, Beauty and the Beast), Tim Wells (God of Carnage, Don’t Dress for Dinner and Twitch), Iain “Ewok” Robinson, Cobus van Heerden, Peter Court and Lyle Buxton. It opened on the West End in 2011 and has enjoyed two sold out, critically acclaimed seasons, and a current national tour and Broadway transfer.
Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of sweet but strict Mrs Wilberforce. The villains plot to involve her unwittingly in Marcus’ brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music?
The Ladykillers boasts a hugely impressive and complicated set by Greg King, lighting by Tina le Roux and is directed by Steven Stead. It runs at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 24 May to 16 June.
