Pieter-Dirk Uys says hello darling |
17 - 19 July 2020 Live-stream Satire
Many theatre patrons have had the honour of watching Pieter-Dirk Uys perform live at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre over the past decades. Now more than ever, we ask you to support him and indeed all performers as they battle against the severe restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 lockdown.
Together with the government's recent announcement of theatre's re-opening, came the restrictions of no more than 50 audience members, and now a nightly curfew starting at 9pm, making it unviable for live shows to take place - let alone the potential health risk posed for cast, crew and audience members. As a result, many performers are now live-streaming their shows.
On Friday 17 July at 18h00 Pieter-Dirk Uys will celebrate 67 minutes into Madiba Day with a live stream performance from Penny Lane Studios in Cape Town. He'll be with some of his characters who are now all staying two-metres apart while (sometimes) keeping their masks on, especially the politicians. This is a show for all who believe that there is a bright light of hope at the end of this dark curved Covid19 tunnel. As always, Uys will tiptoe through the minefield of political correctness, using humour as a weapon of mass distraction. You will all enjoy washing your hands thoroughly when it's over!
