10 - 28 Sept 2014 Hypnotist
For two hours you can be whoever or whatever you want to be – a pop star, a princess, an athlete or a superhero! For one evening you can live your dreams, for at the click of a finger Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist allows you to become your ultimate fantasy.
Andre returns to his birth place – Durban – for another season of rollicking family fun. Often confused as a mentalist and magician, Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist is an experienced award-winning comedian and stage hypnotist. He has become somewhat of an institution on the entertainment calendar in South Africa and neighbouring countries during his 21 years on stage, and became a household name in the 1990s when his show became an instant hit across the country. Since then Andre has performed in virtually every theatre, town hall, school hall, club house and places he prefers not to mention – consistently filling venues to capacity. Andre’s popularity soon led to his own TV special followed by a TV series and now Andre has launched his very first book which is available at shows only. His show has taken him up Africa across Australia and into countries few would venture – including Zimbabwe where technically, hypnotizing someone is a crime.
Andre has selected some of the best material he could find in order to ensure that his audience is provided with two hours of side-splitting fun, laugher and stress-reducing entertainment when he returns to Durban’s Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre as he brings more of his dry wit, crowd-pleasing routines, strange humour and a heap of new acts. With no two shows ever being the same, not even Andre knows what to expect from the group of volunteers from his audience who are invited to act in strange, weird and wonderful ways.
Andre would like to remind theatre-goers that he will not drag, pull or in any way coerce patrons to take part in the show. If an evening of good, old-fashioned family fun is all you want Andre will let you enjoy the show without the risk of becoming the star.
His shows are nightly Wednesday to Saturday at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm, with an extra performance on Tuesday 23rd Sept at 8pm. Tickets are available through Computicket at R90 (Wednesdays and Thursdays) and R100 Saturdays to Sundays with students/pensioners paying R70).
